As anticipation builds for the long-delayed return of Euphoria, its lead star Zendaya has indicated that the upcoming third season could mark the end of the critically acclaimed drama. While the network has not formally confirmed the show’s conclusion, Zendaya’s recent comments suggest that the series may be approaching a natural endpoint.
Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Zendaya was asked directly whether Season Three would be the final installment. Her response, “I think so, yeah”, offered the clearest indication yet that the show may not continue beyond its next chapter. Although she did not elaborate on specific production or narrative decisions, she emphasized the idea of closure, adding that “that closure is coming.”
HBO has not issued an official statement confirming the show’s future, and representatives for the network have declined to comment on whether Season Three is intended as a conclusion. However, Zendaya’s remarks align with broader industry expectations, given the extended gap between seasons and the evolving trajectories of its cast and creative team.
First premiering in 2019, Euphoria quickly became one of HBO’s most talked-about series, known for its stylized approach to storytelling and its exploration of themes including addiction, identity, and adolescence. Zendaya’s portrayal of Rue Bennett, a teenager struggling with substance abuse, has been central to the show’s success. Her performance earned her multiple Emmy Awards and established her as one of the defining television actors of her generation.
Reflecting on her experience with the series, Zendaya described the role as both personally and professionally transformative. She noted that the character of Rue “taught [her] so much about empathy and redemption,” and credited the production with shaping her growth over the past several years. “That crew has also seen me grow up,” she said, underscoring the long-term nature of her involvement with the project.
Season Three arrives after a four-year hiatus following the release of the show’s second season in 2022. The delay was attributed to a combination of factors, including scheduling conflicts, creative development, and broader industry disruptions. The extended gap has heightened expectations for the new season, which is set to premiere on April 12.
Much of the original cast will return, including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow. Colman Domingo is also set to reprise his role, alongside Eric Dane, whose appearance will be among his final performances following his death earlier this year.
The upcoming season will also be the first without Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fezco and died in 2023. His absence is expected to have both narrative and emotional implications for the series, given the character’s prominence in earlier seasons.
In addition to returning cast members, Season Three will introduce several new faces, including Sharon Stone and Rosalía. These additions suggest an expansion of the show’s scope as it moves toward what may be its concluding arc.
Since its debut, Euphoria has maintained a strong cultural presence, influencing fashion, music, and visual storytelling across platforms. Its candid portrayal of youth culture has sparked both critical acclaim and public debate, contributing to its status as one of HBO’s flagship series.
