Season 2 Arrives in Two Parts, Starting August 6

Netflix has officially renewed Wednesday for a third season, ahead of the gothic comedy’s Season 2 premiere on August 6. The hit series, which stars Jenna Ortega as the deadpan antihero from the Addams Family universe, has become one of the streaming giant’s most successful original shows.

The announcement signals a continued commitment to the franchise. In addition to Season 3, creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar confirmed that plans are underway for a spin-off series. Though details are under wraps, the expansion hints at a larger Addams Family universe in development at Netflix.

Season 1 of Wednesday became the most-watched English-language series in Netflix history, racking up over 250 million views and earning 12 Emmy nominations, including one for Ortega in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category. The series follows Wednesday Addams after she’s expelled from her school and sent to Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for supernatural outcasts.

Season 2 will be released in two parts, with the first batch of episodes arriving August 6 and the second on September 3. Co-creators Gough and Millar said the new season will explore darker storylines while introducing more humor, new characters, and expanded roles for Addams family members like Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez return as series regulars, with new cast additions including Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi, and Noah Taylor.

While Netflix has not announced a release date for Season 3, Gough and Millar teased that it will dig deeper into the family’s secrets and further expand the eerie world of Nevermore.”
