A woman accused of targeting Lindsey Buckingham over several years now faces multiple criminal charges in Los Angeles County, following an alleged March 25 incident in which she threw an unidentified substance at the musician in Santa Monica.

According to a felony complaint filed by prosecutors, Michelle Dick has been charged with seven counts, including stalking, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and misdemeanor battery. The charges stem from a series of alleged incidents dating back to 2021, culminating in the March confrontation, which authorities say occurred despite an active restraining order barring Dick from contacting Buckingham or his family.

The Santa Monica incident drew initial attention when reports emerged that Buckingham, 76, had been approached by a woman who allegedly tracked him to a scheduled appointment and threw a liquid substance at him before fleeing. Law enforcement sources indicated at the time that it was unclear whether the substance was hazardous. Buckingham was not physically injured.

Prosecutors allege that the March 25 encounter was part of a broader pattern of behavior that included threats and prior confrontations. The complaint outlines a separate alleged incident on March 19, in which Dick is accused of using a vehicle in a threatening manner and damaging Buckingham’s Mercedes-Benz. Authorities have categorized that episode as both assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism.

In addition to the charges tied directly to Buckingham, prosecutors allege that Dick also stalked a second individual, identified in court documents as Stephanie N., placing both alleged victims in fear for their safety. A judge has issued an arrest warrant and set bail at $300,000, citing probable cause based on the evidence presented.

The case builds on earlier legal action taken by Buckingham in late 2024, when he successfully obtained a civil harassment restraining order against Dick. In his petition to the court at the time, the musician described what he characterized as escalating and increasingly erratic behavior beginning in 2021. He alleged that Dick made repeated attempts to contact him through phone calls and messages, some of which included threats directed at him and his family.

Buckingham also cited a “swatting” incident in November 2024, in which police responded to a false emergency call reporting gunfire at his home. According to court filings, the call prompted a significant law enforcement response, with officers entering and searching the property. Buckingham stated that the experience was deeply unsettling for his family.

In his written declaration, Buckingham said the alleged harassment included claims by Dick that she was his child, along with demands for money and references to past grievances. He also described incidents in which Dick allegedly appeared near his residence and left materials at his home. In one instance, police reportedly stopped her vehicle near the property and questioned her.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge granted the restraining order in December 2024, requiring Dick to remain at least 100 yards away from Buckingham, his wife, and his son, as well as their homes and vehicles. The order was set to remain in effect for five years. Despite those restrictions, prosecutors now allege that Dick continued her behavior, leading to the March incidents.

Law enforcement officials involved in the earlier proceedings expressed concern about the potential for escalation. In supporting documents submitted to the court, investigators described Dick as posing a possible threat to the safety of those involved, citing the persistence and intensity of the alleged conduct.

Attempts to reach representatives for Buckingham have not resulted in public comment regarding the latest charges. Similarly, no statement has been issued on behalf of the defendant.

The case unfolds as Buckingham remains active professionally. The longtime guitarist and songwriter, best known for his work with Fleetwood Mac, recently indicated that he is nearing completion of a new solo album and is involved in an upcoming documentary project related to the band. He has also alluded to a renewed creative connection with Stevie Nicks following the reissue of their early collaborative work.

Further hearings are expected in the coming weeks as the matter moves through the Los Angeles County legal system.
