A security guard at the center of a widely discussed incident involving Chappell Roan and the family of Jorginho has publicly addressed the situation, denying key allegations and stating that he acted independently.

Pascal Duvier, a 53-year-old security professional, issued a statement on social media following several days of online speculation and conflicting accounts. The controversy began on March 21, hours before Roan’s scheduled performance at Lollapalooza Brasil in São Paulo.

“I do not normally address online rumors, but the accusations currently circulating are false and constitute defamation,” Duvier wrote. He went on to take responsibility for the encounter itself, while distancing Roan and her team from any involvement: “I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan,” he said. “The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.”

Duvier added that his actions were based on his own assessment of the situation. “I made a judgment call based on information we obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior, and the heightened overall security risk of our location,” he wrote, describing his interaction with the child’s mother as calm and well-intentioned, though he acknowledged that the outcome was “regretful.”

The incident first came to public attention after Jorginho shared his version of events online. According to the player, his stepdaughter, later identified in reports as Ada Law, the daughter of Jude Law and Catherine Harding, briefly noticed Roan during breakfast at the Palácio Tangará hotel, where both parties were staying. Jorginho stated that the child did not approach the singer directly and returned to her table shortly afterward.

He alleged that a man believed to be associated with Roan’s security approached the family moments later and spoke to them in what he described as an “extremely aggressive” tone. According to his account, the guard criticized the child’s behavior and suggested that a formal complaint could be filed with the hotel.

Jorginho said the interaction left the 11-year-old visibly shaken and in tears. A planned outing to attend Roan’s performance at the festival, reportedly a birthday gift, was subsequently canceled.

Roan addressed the situation the following day, stating that she had no knowledge of the encounter and did not request any intervention. “I didn’t even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me,” she said in a social media post. “I did not ask this security guard to go up to talk to this mother and child.”

She also issued an apology, saying she was sorry if the family felt uncomfortable and emphasizing that they had done nothing wrong.

Harding later shared her own perspective, questioning whether the guard would have acted without some perceived authority. While she acknowledged uncertainty about his affiliation, she described him as intimidating and said the situation escalated more than expected.

Duvier’s statement appears to support Roan’s version of events, making clear that he was not part of her team and that his actions were not directed by her.

The incident has also drawn renewed attention to Duvier’s background in the security industry. He previously worked as a bodyguard for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. In 2016, he was named in a lawsuit filed by Kardashian’s insurance company following the armed robbery she experienced in Paris, in which millions of dollars in jewelry were stolen. That case was settled in 2020.

As of now, there is no indication of legal action related to the São Paulo incident.
