Nicole Kidman says she is focusing on family and stability following her divorce from Keith Urban, describing the past year as a period of personal adjustment largely kept out of the public eye.

In a recent interview with Variety, Kidman spoke briefly about the end of her 19-year marriage, emphasizing that her main priority remains her children and maintaining a sense of unity despite the separation. “Last year, I was quiet,” Kidman said, explaining that she stepped back from public attention while dealing with personal matters. “I had other things going on. I was in my shell.”

Court documents related to the divorce were filed in September 2025. The former couple shares two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15. Kidman indicated she intends to keep details about the separation private, saying discretion is important for the sake of her family.

“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she said. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward.”

Kidman also stressed that despite the divorce, she still views their family structure as intact in an emotional sense. She described her daughters as her central focus and spoke about watching them grow into adulthood. “I’m staying in a place of 'We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be,” she said. “My beautiful girls… who are suddenly women.”

Kidman and Urban married in June 2006 after meeting at a G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, an event that celebrates Australian culture and business ties in the United States. Over nearly two decades, the pair became known as one of the entertainment industry’s most visible couples, frequently supporting each other at film premieres, award ceremonies, and concert tours.

Their relationship also included well-documented personal challenges. Early in their marriage, Kidman helped stage an intervention as Urban struggled with substance abuse issues. Urban later entered rehabilitation and has publicly credited Kidman with supporting his recovery and long-term sobriety.

During Kidman’s 2024 AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony, Urban spoke about the role she played in helping him rebuild his life during that period, describing her support as transformative.

While Kidman has largely declined to discuss the reasons behind their separation, she suggested that maintaining respect for everyone involved is a guiding principle as they move forward.

At the same time, Kidman’s professional schedule remains active. She is preparing for several major projects in 2026, including the release of the series Scarpetta on Amazon Prime Video. She is also attached to a sequel to the 1998 film Practical Magic, as well as a supporting role in filmmaker Osgood Perkins’ upcoming project Young People.

In addition, she is expected to appear in the third season of Lioness, the drama series from Taylor Sheridan.

Despite the high-profile nature of both her career and personal life, Kidman indicated she is trying to approach this next chapter with a sense of perspective, keeping her attention on work, family, and personal well-being rather than public speculation.
