Brooklyn Beckham Says He Has No Plans to Reconcile With His Parents, Citing Ongoing Family Conflict
Brooklyn Beckham has publicly stated that he does not intend to reconcile with his parents, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, alleging years of personal conflict that he says intensified following his marriage to Nicola Peltz.
In a series of Instagram Stories posted Monday, Brooklyn said he felt compelled to address what he described as persistent media narratives surrounding his family after previously choosing to remain silent. He accused his parents and their representatives of repeatedly engaging with the press about the family rift, leaving him, he said, “no choice but to speak for myself.”
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn wrote. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
The statement marks the most direct and public response yet from Brooklyn amid longstanding speculation about tensions between him and his parents. In recent years, observers have noted the family’s absence from one another’s major public milestones, unfollowing or blocking on social media, and persistent rumors of legal and contractual disputes.
Brooklyn suggested the breakdown in the relationship began around his April 2022 wedding to Peltz in Palm Beach, Florida. According to Brooklyn, in the weeks leading up to the ceremony, his parents pressured him to sign agreements related to the commercial use of his name. He claimed the request was tied to business arrangements and said his refusal altered how he was treated afterward.
He also revisited previously reported tensions involving the wedding itself, alleging that Victoria Beckham withdrew from designing Peltz’s wedding dress shortly before the event, forcing a last-minute change. Brooklyn further claimed that an incident during the reception involving his mother disrupted what he described as a meaningful moment between him and his wife.
Brooklyn additionally addressed his relationship with his father, pointing to what he characterized as strained attempts to spend time together during David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations last year. According to Brooklyn, efforts to arrange a private meeting were unsuccessful unless conducted in highly public settings. He said that when a meeting was finally agreed to, it was contingent on Peltz not attending.
“My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family,” Brooklyn wrote. He added that he believes public image and brand considerations have taken priority over personal relationships. “Family ‘love’ seems to be measured by public appearances, social media posts, and optics,” he said.
Brooklyn also spoke about his mental health, saying he had experienced anxiety for much of his life but found relief after distancing himself from his family. He described the separation as difficult but ultimately stabilizing.
The Beckham family has long been among the most scrutinized celebrity households in the U.K. and abroad, with their personal dynamics often unfolding alongside their business and media ventures. Representatives for David and Victoria Beckham did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
