Missy Elliott is set to add another major honor to her decades-long career, as the groundbreaking rapper and producer will receive the Amazon Music Visionary Icon Award at the 10th annual Culture Creators Innovators & Leaders awards brunch. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, bringing together a wide cross-section of entertainment, fashion, sports, and media figures for a celebration that has become a fixture in the industry over the past decade.

The award itself will be presented jointly by the Culture Creators Foundation and Amazon Music, reflecting a partnership between the two organizations aimed at recognizing influential figures who have shaped culture across various industries. As part of the tribute to Elliott's career and lasting influence, rising R&B artist JayDon is scheduled to perform a special set honoring her legacy, giving attendees a live musical moment built specifically around celebrating her impact on the industry.

Joi Brown, founder and CEO of Culture Creators, spoke about the significance of honoring Elliott, drawing on her own history working alongside the rapper during their time together at Atlantic Records. Brown described Culture Creators' decade-long mission as one centered on sustaining, elevating, and celebrating both the visible and behind-the-scenes figures who push culture forward, and she characterized Elliott as embodying that spirit fully. According to Brown, Elliott's influence continues to resonate widely, shaping artists, executives, creators, and fans well beyond her own generation.

Phylicia Fant, who serves as Amazon Music's global director of Black music and culture, echoed that sentiment, expressing pride in the company's collaboration with the Culture Creators Foundation to bring Elliott this particular recognition. Her comments reflected Amazon Music's broader involvement in highlighting Black artists and executives whose contributions have helped define modern music and culture.

The ceremony will also celebrate a wide range of accomplished figures across different fields, including Critics Choice Award winner Janelle James, who will receive the Film/TV Award, and longtime entertainment executive Suzanne de Passe, who will be honored with an Icon Award spanning film, television, and music. Comedian Druski is set to receive the Innovator of the Year distinction, while fashion icon Bethann Hardison will be recognized with an Icon Award for her contributions to the fashion industry. Grammy-winning producer Jermaine Dupri will receive an Icon Award for music, Emmy-winning broadcaster Andrew Hawkins will be honored with the Sports Award, and media figure Jason Lee will receive the Trailblazer Award, rounding out a diverse group of honorees spanning multiple corners of entertainment and culture.

The brunch will be hosted by Xmayo and will include a full day of programming beyond the awards presentation itself. Attendees can expect a beauty and gifting suite, along with a curated photo exhibition designed to chronicle ten years of Culture Creators' history and milestones. The day will also mark the public unveiling of the Next 10, a forward-looking strategic platform through which Culture Creators plans to expand its mission and influence over the coming decade.

Beyond the celebratory aspects of the event, the annual gathering also serves a charitable purpose, functioning as a fundraiser for the Culture Creators Foundation's HBCU+ Scholarship Fund. That fund supports students pursuing careers in media, entertainment, technology, and culture by offering mentorship opportunities, career-access programs, and other resources designed to help young people break into competitive creative and corporate industries.
