Khloé Kardashian Says She Was Unknowingly Drugged at Coachella Party
Khloé Kardashian says an experience at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival more than a decade ago left her frightened, disoriented, and unwilling to ever return.
Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, Kardashian described what she believes was an incident involving drugs at a private party connected to the festival. The reality television figure and businesswoman said she unknowingly consumed a substance while attending an event during Coachella and later locked herself in a bathroom for hours after becoming overwhelmed and confused.
The comments offered a rare firsthand account from someone inside the celebrity-heavy festival culture surrounding Coachella, where private parties, influencer gatherings, and alcohol- and drug-fueled after-hours events have long existed alongside the music itself.
Kardashian said the incident occurred sometime around 2016 and remains the only time she attended the festival.
According to Kardashian, the situation unfolded after she drank what she described as a juice beverage at a party. While she clarified she does not believe she was intentionally targeted, she said she later realized the drink likely contained drugs that others around her were knowingly consuming.
“I got drugged without me knowing,” Kardashian said. “I don’t think anyone drugged me. I just think I was the dumb one and didn’t realize everyone was on drugs.” She described quickly feeling physically and mentally different after consuming the drink, though she initially did not understand what was happening “I remember drinking this drink and just feeling really crazy,” she said. “No one wants to feel like that and not know why they’re like that.”
The experience escalated to the point where Kardashian isolated herself in a bathroom for hours while others at the party reportedly tried to get her to come out. “I remember locking myself in a bathroom for hours,” she said. “I just didn’t realize what was happening until after it happened, that I was on drugs.”
According to Kardashian, the confusion and paranoia intensified because she did not know why she suddenly felt detached from reality.
Her comments reflect a recurring issue surrounding large music festivals and nightlife culture, where recreational drug use can blur lines of consent and awareness, particularly when attendees do not know exactly what substances they are consuming.
While Kardashian stressed she does not believe anyone deliberately tampered with her drink, her story highlights the risks tied to environments where substances are passed around casually or incorporated into drinks without clear disclosure.
Since that experience, Kardashian said she has avoided returning to the festival entirely. Though she stayed away, members of her family have continued attending Coachella events over the years, including sisters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, who attended this year’s festival during Justin Bieber’s headline-making performance.
Elsewhere in the same podcast episode, Kardashian also revisited another difficult chapter of her past: her 2007 DUI arrest. The reality star reflected on the experience after a listener asked about a longstanding story involving her close friend Malika Haqq allegedly doing her hair before a mugshot.
Kardashian confirmed that Haqq styled her hair years later, when Kardashian served time connected to a probation violation stemming from the original DUI case.
Years later, after violating probation terms connected to the case, Kardashian was sentenced to 30 days in jail in 2018, though she served significantly less time due to overcrowding policies. She confirmed that before that appearance, Haqq helped prepare her hair for the booking photo that later circulated online.
