Kelly Osbourne has spoken out after facing online criticism about her appearance at the 2026 BRIT Awards, where she attended to honor her late father, Ozzy Osbourne.
The ceremony, held in Manchester, recognized Ozzy Osbourne with a posthumous lifetime achievement award. Kelly appeared alongside her mother, Sharon Osbourne, to accept the honor on his behalf. Following the event, commentary circulated online about Kelly’s physical appearance, with some users expressing concern and others speculating about her weight loss.
In a statement shared to her Instagram Stories, Kelly addressed the reaction directly.
“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something,” she wrote. “Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character.”
She added that she is currently experiencing “the hardest time” in her life and said she should not have to defend herself publicly, but would not allow herself to be “dehumanized.”
Ozzy Osbourne died last July at age 76. During the BRIT Awards ceremony, Sharon Osbourne addressed the audience while accepting the award. “If Ozzy was here tonight with us, he would be showing us that gorgeous smile that he had and I know he would be so proud to receive this from the country that he loved,” she said. “So he may not be here, but he left us one amazing body of work that will never be forgotten by the country that made him.”
This is not the first time Kelly Osbourne has responded to commentary about her body. In December, she posted a video, later deleted, addressing remarks suggesting she was ill or using weight-loss medication. In that video, she referenced her father’s death and said she was focusing on supporting her family during a period of intense grief.
Sharon Osbourne later defended her daughter in an interview with broadcaster Piers Morgan, stating that Kelly was still mourning and struggling to eat following her father’s passing.
In August, Kelly wrote publicly about her grief, describing it as something that “sneaks up on you in waves.” She acknowledged that she would “not be OK for a while” but expressed gratitude for the support she had received.
Her latest comments underscore the emotional strain of public scrutiny during personal loss, particularly as conversations about body image and health continue to unfold on social media platforms.
