Alexia Jayy has been crowned the winner of Season 29 of The Voice, marking a milestone moment for the long-running NBC competition. The 31-year-old singer becomes the first Black woman to win the show in its 15-year history, following a season defined by technically strong and emotionally driven performances.

Jayy competed on Team Adam Levine, delivering a series of standout renditions that drew from a wide range of vocal traditions. Over the course of the competition, she performed songs associated with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Adele, choices that highlighted both her vocal range and her command of classic material. Judges and audiences consistently responded to her ability to balance precision with emotional depth.

Her victory also marks a significant return for Levine, who secures his first win on the show since Season 9 and his fourth overall. With the result, he is now tied with Kelly Clarkson for the most wins by a coach in the show’s history. Still, Levine emphasized that the outcome was driven by Jayy’s individual talent. Speaking after the finale, he credited her discipline and stage presence, telling her directly that she had carried the competition largely on her own.

Following the announcement, Jayy addressed her supporters in a message shared on social media, describing the experience as both overwhelming and formative. She pointed to the sustained audience support throughout the season as a defining factor in her run, noting that the response from viewers translated into a sense of momentum each week.

The singer moved quickly into post-show appearances, including a performance at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Los Angeles, where she celebrated the win with a live audience. The event doubled as an informal continuation of the finale, with Jayy revisiting some of the vocal intensity that characterized her performances on the show. She was joined briefly by Levine for a duet of Sunday Morning, a moment that underscored the collaborative dynamic between coach and contestant that developed over the season.

Jayy’s win comes with the standard prize package awarded to The Voice champions, including $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. The deal places her in a position to transition from independent releases to a broader commercial platform.

Before joining the show, Jayy had already begun establishing herself as an independent artist. She released several singles and a project titled Mixed Emotions in September 2025, building a modest but growing audience. Her appearance on The Voice significantly expanded that reach, introducing her to a national audience and accelerating her visibility within the industry.

While The Voice has featured a diverse range of contestants over the years, Jayy’s win highlights a gap that persisted for more than a decade.
