Singer and actress Taylor Momsen experienced a medical scare while on tour in Mexico City after being bitten by a venomous spider ahead of a performance. The incident occurred during the ongoing international run of AC/DC’s “Power Up” tour, where Momsen’s band, The Pretty Reckless, is serving as the opening act.

Momsen shared details of the incident on social media, describing how the bite required immediate medical attention before she was able to take the stage. According to her account, local doctors administered treatment, including an injection, to counter the effects of the venom.

“So it wouldn’t be an AC/DC tour if I didn’t get bit,” she wrote, framing the episode with a degree of dark humor. She added that the spider “took a chunk out of me” and that the venom had a noticeable impact on her system. Despite the setback, Momsen proceeded with the scheduled performance later that evening.

The spider bite is not the first unusual incident Momsen has encountered while touring. In May 2024, she was bitten by a bat during a live performance in Seville, Spain, an episode that quickly drew attention online due to its unexpected nature.

At the time, Momsen was performing “Witches Burn” when the bat made contact. She later said she had not initially realized what had happened until audience members alerted her mid-performance. The moment was handled calmly, with Momsen continuing the show and later receiving medical treatment as a precaution.

While such incidents are rare, the combination of outdoor venues, stage lighting, and large crowds can occasionally create unpredictable conditions for performers. In Momsen’s case, the recurrence of unusual encounters has become a talking point among fans following the tour.

Despite the incident in Mexico City, there has been no indication that Momsen or her band will alter their touring plans. The Pretty Reckless are scheduled to continue supporting AC/DC across multiple cities as part of the extended tour, which is set to conclude in Philadelphia on September 29.

Following the North American leg, the band is expected to continue performing internationally through the end of the year, with additional dates planned in Europe, including a final stop in Glasgow in December.

The incident prompted reactions from fellow musicians, including Nancy Wilson, who offered practical advice in response to Momsen’s post. Wilson encouraged her to stay hydrated and follow medical guidance closely, a reminder of the importance of proper treatment when dealing with venomous bites.

While Momsen approached the situation with humor, medical professionals generally caution that reactions to spider venom can vary significantly depending on the species involved and the individual’s response. Prompt care, such as the treatment she received in Mexico City, is considered essential in preventing more serious complications.

Touring at the scale of an AC/DC production involves constant travel, outdoor venues, and physically demanding schedules. For opening acts like The Pretty Reckless, maintaining performance consistency under those conditions is a key part of the job.
