The 2026 SAG Actor Awards crowned Sinners as the year’s top film, awarding the ensemble cast the ceremony’s highest honor while also recognizing Michael B. Jordan as best male actor in a leading role.

The awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, are presented by SAG-AFTRA and voted on by fellow performers. The name change, implemented last November, did little to alter the ceremony’s role as one of the most closely watched barometers of peer recognition in the industry.

Sinners, a vampire drama set in the segregated American South, took home best ensemble in a motion picture. Jordan was separately honored for his dual performance as bootlegging twins in the film. In his acceptance speech, he acknowledged the unique significance of being recognized by actors. “Just being in this room right now with all these people who saw me grow up in front of the camera… I feel the love and support that you’ve always given me,” he said.

The film’s director, Ryan Coogler, became the first director in the awards’ history to oversee two ensemble winners. He previously won the top film prize for Black Panther in 2018.

On the television side, The Studio, a satire targeting the inner workings of Hollywood power structures, led the field with three awards, including best ensemble in a comedy series. Co-creator and star Seth Rogen won best male actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of a beleaguered studio executive. His co-star, Catherine O'Hara, was honored posthumously with the best female actor in a comedy series. Rogen accepted on her behalf, praising her collaborative spirit and creative instincts.

The Pitt, a medical drama, secured two major awards, including best ensemble in a drama series. Noah Wyle added best male actor in a drama series to his résumé for his role as an emergency physician. In a surprise outcome, Keri Russell won best female actor in a drama series for The Diplomat, prevailing over heavily favored nominees.

In film acting categories, Jessie Buckley won best female actor in a leading role for Hamnet, portraying a mother coping with grief. Supporting actor honors went to Sean Penn for One Battle After Another and Amy Madigan for Weapons. In limited series categories, Michelle Williams won best female actor for Dying for Sex, while 16-year-old Owen Cooper took best male actor for Adolescence.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of the Life Achievement Award to Harrison Ford. Fighting back tears, Ford addressed the room of fellow performers with characteristic restraint. “I’m here to receive a prize for being alive,” he said, while emphasizing that he continues to view himself as an active, working actor.

The evening unfolded against the backdrop of heightened global tensions. SAG-AFTRA executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland acknowledged ongoing international conflict during opening remarks, expressing solidarity with those affected and calling for peace.

Hosted for the second consecutive year by Kristen Bell, the ceremony streamed live on Netflix. The event arrives amid broader industry shifts, including corporate consolidation and streaming competition, underscoring the continued importance of peer recognition within a rapidly evolving entertainment landscape.
