Authorities in Arizona confirmed Saturday that no arrests were made following a SWAT operation connected to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for nearly two weeks.
On Friday night, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a Tucson residence located less than two miles from Guthrie’s home. According to local reports, a man and a woman believed to be related were detained during the operation. A second man was also stopped in a traffic stop while allegedly en route to the residence and temporarily detained.
In a brief statement posted to social media late Friday, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said, “Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case. Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI, no additional information is currently available.”
By Saturday morning, however, officials clarified that the operation did not result in any charges. “Nothing more than a lead tracked down that led to a search warrant and no arrest,” the department told local affiliate KOLD.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos echoed that update in comments to NewsNation reporter Brian Entin, stating, “Just tracking down leads. No arrests. And no signs of Nancy.”
Authorities have not disclosed what prompted the search or what evidence, if any, was recovered at the scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with federal authorities assisting.
The latest operation follows another search earlier in the week that similarly ended without charges. In that instance, law enforcement briefly detained a delivery driver before determining he was not connected to the case.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on Jan. 31. Investigators believe she was taken from her Tucson home against her will. Previously released doorbell camera footage allegedly shows a masked individual near the property around the time of her disappearance. Officials have not confirmed whether the individual in the footage has been identified.
Authorities have expressed increasing concern due to Guthrie’s age and the fact that she has been without the required daily medication since her disappearance. Earlier this week, the FBI announced that it had raised the reward for information leading to her whereabouts to $100,000.
Savannah Guthrie and her family have made public appeals for help, urging anyone with information to contact authorities. As of Saturday afternoon, investigators say they are continuing to pursue leads but have not identified a suspect or made any arrests.
