Katy Perry has issued a firm denial following a sexual assault allegation made by actor and model Ruby Rose, calling the accusation “categorically false” and describing it as a serious and harmful misrepresentation of events.

The claim surfaced over the weekend when Rose posted on social media alleging that Perry assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub more than a decade ago. The allegation, which quickly gained traction online, relates to an incident Rose says took place in the early 2010s while both women were in Australia.

In a statement provided through a representative, Perry rejected the accusation in unequivocal terms. “The allegations being circulated on social media are not only untrue, they are reckless and dangerous,” the spokesperson said, adding that the singer intends to challenge what they described as misinformation.

Rose first raised the claim in response to an unrelated online post and later elaborated in a series of messages, providing a graphic account of the alleged incident. She stated that the encounter occurred at a nightclub in Melbourne and claimed that multiple individuals were present at the time. Rose also suggested that she possesses photographic evidence and that witnesses could corroborate her account, though no such material has been publicly released.

While Rose did not specify the exact date of the alleged incident, past reporting has documented that both she and Perry were in Melbourne and attended the Spice Market nightclub in August 2010. The venue, a well-known nightlife location in the city, was a frequent destination for visiting celebrities at the time.

Rose further indicated that she recently filed a police report, though it remains unclear whether the filing directly pertains to the allegation involving Perry or another matter. Authorities in Victoria, Australia, declined to comment on the specifics, citing privacy protocols that prevent confirmation of individuals involved in potential investigations.

The actress also addressed the timing of her disclosure, explaining that she had previously referenced the incident in a more casual or humorous context without fully detailing her account. She said she had not publicly characterized the experience as assault at the time, in part due to personal and professional considerations, including her early career trajectory.

Rose, who has since built a career in film and television, stated that it took years for her to feel able to speak openly about the experience. She framed the delay as reflective of the broader challenges associated with reporting alleged misconduct, particularly when it involves high-profile figures or occurred many years earlier.

Perry’s representatives, however, questioned the credibility of the claim, asserting that Rose has made prior allegations against other individuals that were disputed. The statement emphasized that the current accusation lacks substantiation and warned against amplifying unverified claims.

As of now, no civil lawsuit has been filed, and there has been no confirmation of an active criminal investigation tied specifically to the allegation. Representatives for Rose have not provided additional comment beyond her public statements.
