Jack Antonoff Addresses Absence From Taylor Swift’s Latest Album, Dismisses Rift Rumors

Producer, songwriter, and Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff is pushing back on speculation that his absence from Taylor Swift’s most recent album signals a falling-out between the longtime collaborators, saying he remains grateful for their creative history and unfazed by not participating in her latest project.

Speaking during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show ahead of the release of Bleachers’ fifth studio album, Everyone for Ten Minutes, Antonoff addressed online rumors that surfaced after fans noticed he was not credited on Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The producer, who has worked closely with Swift for over a decade, said the situation was not unusual and did not reflect any personal or professional tension.

“I only feel grateful for the work that has happened,” Antonoff said when asked directly about his absence. He added that as an artist himself, he understands the need for musicians to explore new creative partnerships. “I understand that need to have different collaborators and jump around,” he said, noting that long-term creative relationships in the music industry are often the exception rather than the norm.

Antonoff emphasized that their continued collaboration over multiple albums was itself uncommon. “I don’t think it’s normal to have the same collaborators over and over, and when I’ve had it with people, I think it’s a weird miracle,” he said, framing his work with Swift as a rare and sustained creative partnership rather than an expectation.

The two have collaborated extensively since the lead-up to Swift’s 2014 album 1989, continuing through several major releases, including The Tortured Poets Department and her re-recorded version of Fearless. Their partnership has become one of the most recognizable producer-artist relationships in contemporary pop music, shaping the sound of many of Swift’s most commercially and critically successful projects.

During the interview, Antonoff also reflected on the nature of their songwriting dynamic, highlighting a technique they have developed together known as the “rant bridge.” He described it as a moment within a song where structure and restraint give way to emotional release. “You spend a whole song, verse and chorus, being super poetic and dancing around something… and then you get to this bridge, and you just crash out,” he said. “At that point, you’ve earned it.”

Swift echoed similar sentiments in a separate video interview published by The New York Times Magazine on the same day. In that conversation, she reaffirmed her personal and professional connection to Antonoff, calling him “a collaborator of mine and one of my best friends.” She also elaborated on the “rant bridge” concept, describing it as a “stream-of-consciousness, endless pouring-out of emotion,” often blending metaphor, introspection, and unfiltered expression.

Swift cited several songs as examples of the technique, including “Out of the Woods” (2014), “Cruel Summer” (2019), and “Is It Over Now?” (2023), all of which were co-created with Antonoff and showcase the emotional intensity that has become a hallmark of their collaborations.
