Heeseung is departing K-pop group Enhypen to focus on solo music, according to an announcement from the group’s management company.
The decision was confirmed on March 10 by Belift Lab, a subsidiary of Hybe Corporation. In a statement, the label said the move followed extensive discussions about both the group’s future direction and Heeseung’s individual artistic goals.
According to the company, conversations with the members made it clear that Heeseung wanted to explore a distinct musical identity. The agency said it ultimately chose to support that vision while maintaining Enhypen as a six-member group.
Belift Lab confirmed that Heeseung will remain under the label while preparing a solo album.
In a personal message shared with fans on the platform Weverse, Heeseung acknowledged that the announcement may have come as a surprise and said he wanted to address fans directly.
“I know many ENGENEs must have been surprised,” he wrote, referring to the group’s fanbase. He thanked supporters for helping him reach what he described as a once-distant dream and credited both the group’s members and fans for his growth as an artist.
He also emphasized that his decision came after long consideration and discussions about how to best present the music he had been working on independently. According to Heeseung, he had been developing personal material for some time but was careful not to let individual ambitions interfere with the group’s activities.
“Over time, I shared the work I had been creating with the company,” he wrote, explaining that the final decision came after extended conversations about his future direction.
Despite leaving the lineup, Heeseung said he plans to continue supporting Enhypen and expressed appreciation for his time in the group. He described the move not as a break from the group’s legacy but as a step toward returning to fans with a stronger artistic identity.
He also addressed concerns from fans directly, acknowledging that the news could cause uncertainty while expressing gratitude for their continued support.
“My sincere hope is to return to you with an even better version of myself,” he wrote.
Heeseung’s departure marks the first lineup change for Enhypen since the group was formed through the 2020 survival competition show I-Land. Since their debut, the group has built a global following and established itself as one of the prominent fourth-generation K-pop acts.
The group will now continue promotions with six members following the change. Their most recent release, the mini-album The Sin: Vanish, arrived in January and continued their run of internationally charting projects.
