Charlie Puth has publicly asked Elon Musk to reconsider late-night rocket launches near his home in Santa Barbara, saying the explosions have become increasingly disruptive and frightening for his family.

In a post shared on X on Tuesday, the singer addressed Musk directly, describing the impact of recent SpaceX launches on his neighborhood. “These sonic booms have gotten progressively louder since they started launching the rockets in Santa Barbara,” Puth wrote. “This one at 3 a.m. today felt like 150–160 dB, violently shook our whole house, and really frightened my pregnant wife. I hope they do not get louder.”

As of publication, Musk has not publicly responded.

Musk is the CEO of SpaceX, which operates rocket testing and launch facilities in California, Florida, and Texas. In California, launches take place at Vandenberg Space Force Base, located along the Central Coast near Santa Barbara. According to SpaceX’s website, a Falcon 9 rocket launched early Wednesday morning at 3:40 a.m. local time. Ahead of the launch, SpaceX warned that residents in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties “may have heard one or more sonic booms,” noting that how intensely they were felt would depend on weather and atmospheric conditions.

Puth’s post comes as he and his wife prepare to welcome their first child. The singer recently confirmed the pregnancy during an appearance on The Tonight Show, where he performed his single “Changes” and spoke with host Jimmy Fallon about the upcoming addition to his family.

“We’re expecting a baby in March,” Puth said at the time. “I’m gonna be a dad. I was told not to reveal the gender.” He added, jokingly, “I hope the baby likes music, because it’s the only thing I’m good at.”

In October, Puth released “Changes,” a song that reflects on personal growth and life transitions, and used its accompanying music video to share the news that he and his wife were expecting. The track marked a new chapter for the singer, who has spoken openly about embracing adulthood and slowing down after years of nonstop touring and public life.

Despite the domestic concerns raised this week, Puth remains active professionally. Last month, the NFL announced that he will perform the national anthem at Super Bowl LX in February 2026. Celebrating the news on social media, Puth shared a humorous video in which he attempted to explain the musical difficulty of “The Star-Spangled Banner” using football terminology, a nod to his popular online videos breaking down music theory.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this… I will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LX,” he wrote.

For now, however, Puth’s attention appears firmly grounded at home. His post underscores growing concerns from residents near Vandenberg about the increasing frequency and intensity of nighttime launches, particularly as SpaceX continues to expand its operations. Whether Musk or SpaceX will respond to Puth’s plea remains to be seen.
